Ali Modu Sheriff is new acting national chairman of PDP
Fresh reports reaching Naij.com have it that Ali Modu Sheriff, one of the alleged sponsors of Boko Haram, is the new acting national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). UPDATE: The appointment of a former governor of Borno State as the new chairman of the opposition PDP was officially confirmed by its National Executive Committee. This piece of information was made available by the party’s director on new media, Adeyanju Deji, via a tweet just over an hour ago.Check out the tweet below: FLASH: Ali Modu Sheriff is the new Acting Chairman of our party. — Adeyanju Deji (@adeyanjudeji) February 16, 2016 While addressing journalists at the Wadata plaza secretariat of the party in Abuja after the latest development, national publicity secretary of the PDP informed that all organs of the party, including, the national caucus, PDP governors’ forum and the national assembly caucuses agreed on the choice of Sherffi, who is also a former senator. According to Premium Times, Metuh said the decision would be communicated to the Board of Trustees and subsequently, the National Executive Committee (NEC) for ratification before a formal announcement would be made. Earlier in the day, it was reported that there were moves by governors and chieftains of the PDP to name erstwhile chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu, as the next chairman of the party. It was gathered that there is a manhunt to get the former anti-graft czar to accept the offer by prominent chieftains of the party
