They
can put the guns down. The agreement allows an immediate influx of humanitarian
aid followed by a “cessation of hostilities” next week — though fighting
against terrorist groups ISIS and al-Nusra Front will persist. While U.S.
Secretary of State John Kerry called the plan “ambitious,” some worry that the
Russians will continue airstrikes using a different definition of “terrorist
groups,” or that the Syrian government may not agree to the terms. But OZY’s
John McLaughlin says diplomacy is America’s best shot at not getting dragged
into yet another military quagmire.
