Ondo state man arrested for decapitating niece

– An Ondo state resident has been arrested for murdering his niece.  – The alleged murderer is said to have decapitated the girl for ritualistic purposes.  – He was nearly lynched by angry local residents before police intervened. A 42 year-old man, Samuel Omosaba has been arreased for allegedly beheading his three year-old niece, Adubarin Kola, at Ilepa quarters in Ikare-Akoko, Akoko North East local government area of Ondo state. Omosaba, who is jobless and without a partner, was said to have contacted a herbalist in Ipe-Akoko for blood money, according to local residents. It was gathered that the herbalist told Omosoba that the only way to make him rich was for him to look for the head of a baby.The deceased victim lived with her grandmother at Ilepa quarters in Ikare as her 
imother, Bunmi, is a trader who was frequently absent from home at market. On the day the little girl met her grizzly death, Bunmi was said to have taken Adubarin to her mother in-law but only met her husband and Omosaba at home, who promised to take care of the child until the grandmother returned.  On her return from the market, Bunmi found her daughter’s lifeless body in Omosaba’s room. The suspect was said to have confessed to his family members that he killed the girl for ritual purposes.

He was nearly lynched by aggrieved youths in the community and subjected to swift and brutal street justice before the police came to his rescue.Police spokesman Mr. Femi Joseph, who confirmed the incident took place, said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigative Department (CID) Akure for further investigation. If found guilty for this heinous crime, Omosaba faces the death penalty.
